Hidden Facts of Finance

First-time buyers are in a crunch. Starter home prices would need to fall 32% to a median of $244,000 and mortgage rates would need to drop to 3.15% or incomes would need to rise by nearly 50% to make housing affordable for typical first time buyers, according to estimates by the NAR.

Earlier this year, Amazon bought a 960-megawatt data center campus from Talon Energy, which emerged from bankruptcy last year. The campus is powered directly by the town’s nearby Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, which generates 2.5 gigawatts of power. Ongoing power sales to Amazon will give the town a steady cash flow and Talon shares have tripled to over $150 since last fall.
